Where Snow and Action Meet

Welcome to SkiCross.info
I hope that you enjoy my simple webpage.  My goal is to give my friends, fans and new supporters of skicross a little more info on SkiCross and myself.

I have to say that sport has been my life for more then 30 years and do not see anywhere in the near future that this will change. My biggest passions now are Skiing, Motorcross and now trying to plan for what will be in line for me once I retire from competition. For me skiing has taken a slightly different road then I had expected or planned. I raced for many years in Canada, going through the system like most, Club team (Edmonton, Jasper and Kimberley), Provincial Team (BC Ski Team) and then 7 years with the Canadian National Team. Seven years of traveling all around the world, training and competing against the best in the world. My best ranking was in the year 1994/95 when, in slalom, I was 26th on the World Cup Start List and 8th on the FIS Points List.  After slowly improving on the World Cup Circuit I became sick, it took about 2 years to really figure out what was wrong. Not being 100% made it really hard to compete against the best athletes Alpine Racing had to offer.  In 1999, politics within the Canadian Team left me stuck between a rock and a hard place. I spoke my opinion and answered honestly when asked questions about my future and skiing.

That spring I had to make a decision to hang up my skis and move on or to take a risk and begin racing for my parents home country, the Czech Republic. I think it was a good decision now that I look back. I fulfilled one of my long time dreams of competing at the Olympics, this I realized at the Salt Lake City, Winter Olympics in 2002. I had a great time and am proud of my results. 10th Combined, 15th Slalom, 25th Giant Slalom. I was also happy that my father and and some of my best friends were able to take the time to come cheer me on.
Now my ski career has taken a slight shift in direction, I am still racing but under the new freestyle event SkiCross. It is an exciting sport, fast speeds, big jumps, technical turns and strategy. I plan on competing until I feel I have nothing left to give, that could still be a long time considering the quick growth of this sport. In the fall of 2006, the IOC voted to include SkiCross in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.

2005 was highlighted with the "First" ever World Championships for SkiCross which took place in Ruka, Finland. I did my part and placed 8th Overall to go along with my 3rd Overall for the FIS SkiCross World Cup Tour.  In 2006 I placed 4th Overall on the World Cup Tour and in 2007 I had a near dream season capped by a 1st Overall and first ever Champion of the new Honda Ski Tour. I also captured a 2nd at the 2007 FreeStyle World Championships in Italy,  placed 4th Overall in the Jeep Tour and 7th Overall on the World Cup Tour. What a year.

In the summer of 2006 I made the switch back to Canada when a good friend that I trust and respect sold me on the idea of representing Canada at the Olympics in Vancouver. My first year with the Canadian SkiCross Team went great, I placed 2nd in the Airwave Games and the X-games. I also had 4 podiums on the World Cup and finished 3rd overall. It was a great season and a great way to motivate myself for the next 2 years with the World Championships in Japan in 2009 and then the Olympics in Vancouver, 2010.

My other goal is to get people interested in SkiCross and to introduce new, young racers to this exciting sport.  I believe with the right training and proper groundwork SkiCross and be a safe, exciting and challenging sport for any Ski Fan or racer.

Sport is a major part of today's society, it teaches respect, trust and confidence. Enjoy my web page and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
